Gundi Studios, a New York-based, slow fashion and progressive media brand that celebrates outspoken South Asian womxn in motherland, diaspora and beyond, will showcase its streetwear through a pop-up in Mumbai. The streetwear is created in a women-led supply chain, and the media addresses issues related to gender and post colonialism. Gundi Studios will begin its SZN I tour at Method Gallery, which is an independent creative art space that elevates artists breaking traditional definitions of fine art at Kala Godha, Mumbai starting on the 28th of August 2019.
In 2019, Gundi Studios will be hosting week-long popups on three continents: in Mumbai, New York City, and London, Mumbai being the first stop. The pop up tour will feature the streetwear collection along with an immersive art installation, host a panel discussion on gender equality and inclusion, and bring together a group of key South Asian influencers to create a local ‘Gundi Gang’. It will offer the community with an opportunity to see and try on Gundi clothing as well.
Natasha Sumant founded the brand Gundi in 2017 after garnering immense success as an art director and visual designer with international brands such as the likes of Prose, Away,Pat McGrath amongst others.
